Bellhousing identification and shifter positions

Postby KinLoud » Tue May 01, 2007 12:14 am

Thought I would post up pics of some bellhousings to help people work out what they have got...
G bellhousing off a 1981 GX61 Chaser 1GEU motor.

S bellhousing - SX6x Mark II, Cressida etc. Also C bellhousing the same - CA60 Carina wagon, CM30? Liteace with G52 gearbox (same bolt pattern as W series gearbox).
Image

Y bellhousing - YX70 Mark II wagon, YM30 Liteace with G52 gearbox (same bolt pattern as W series gearbox). Can be used on a S motor to put starter on other side of block if the top right hole is slotted See the hole in the top right is slightly lower than the S/C bellhousing.

R bellhousing - RX30? Cressida

M bellhousing - MA60, MA70 Supras

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Heres is my 3A to T-50 bellhousing, same as a 4A-T-50 housing but with the clutch fork on the passengers side.

Interesting thing if found the other day,

all the w series bellhousings are labelled on the surface that mounts to the gearbox, so if you remove the housing there is a letter in there.

I now know the mystery bellhousing I have is an L series diesil one.
