Postby BZG_UNIT » Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:12 am

Hey just wondering if ae101 rear brakes (Discs) will replace the rear drums in an ae111? if so would they got straight in no hassles? is it a good idea?

AE101 rear disk brakes will PROBABLY bolt straight up to AE111.
My experience of bolting AE101 disk rear onto AE101 drum brake car...
Easiest was to bolt the whole rear subframe across:
- subframe
- hubs
- disks and calipers
- handbrake cables (you will need these from the disk rear)
All as one unit.
It can be a real pain to just do the hubs without the subframe. This is due to the big bolts that connect the hub to the track arms often being VERY difficult to take out!
You will also need to swap the brake bias valve (in the engine bay on the firewall) to give the correct brake bias with rear disk brakes.

My advice is to have a whole donor car so you can easily compare parts to check what will fit or not.
Look out for a AE111 disk rear setup unless the AE101 stuff is very cheap. This would guarantee that it will work.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
