12V/100V Switch on 1997 Caldina GT-T dash?

Postby TOYO-GT-T » Sun Jan 07, 2007 12:28 pm

Does anyone have a switch located on the left hand side of their steering wheel.

I have a med size swith which I can switch up and down. On the switch it says 12V/100V. The switch has a little orange light on it when switched on

I have no idea what it does apart from according to the description it has something to do with volts.

Can anyone let me know what this does and if they have it?

Cheers.

accessories socket behind centre column/compartment.

if you have anything that runs on 12v or 100v with the same plug you can run it off it.

That one is 100v AC only, the 12v DC one is on the drivers side in the rear compartment. Why on earth they decided to make that one switchable I'll never know.

Would it have enough grunt to run a laptop? That would be handy for ECU tuning.

Doubt it.

We have had a few problems with inverters and laptops at work.
You will be surprised at how much some laptop powerpacks need to run.

Most of the time you need a reasonably grunty inverter,
which usually has a grunty price.

The one on this is rated at 1.7-.75A @240v,
(dont know why but they current rate some not watt rated)
so 1.7a x 240v is 408w

Price up a 500W inverter and see why it's hardly ever done.

It turns on the 12V socket in the back (drivers side boot) and the 100V outlet back of centre console 2 pin like a US plug under the ashtray I think
Cheers

ah i also wondered where it was and what that box did!

its a PITA that the rear plug is switchable
ideally it would work when the key was set to ACC rather than IGN
