Qs about facelift levin (ae101)

Postby icy » Thu Oct 25, 2007 11:59 pm

Hi guys, I just sold my sw20 and got myself a nice stock 94 Levin, this is the 5th levin I have had, including 1 gt apex, 2 gtz and a bzg, all my friends thinks there is something wrong with me to get another one!!

This 94 Levin I just picked up today has only done 70ks, looks and drives that way, was told a granny and her son owned the car till Jan this yr then to the guy who I bought it from.

I am planning to do some of the basic mods in the future and am wondering if the 94 silver top differs from earlier made silver tops, is there a way to find out if the engine is actually a later vresion silver top? I do have a different tail lights but the grill between the headlights are the same as the earlier models, I am interested to swap it to an aftermarket ones if anyone can point me where to find these..

oh ya and does anyone know if this car has got ABS?

thx in advance
:D

not sure if theres an aftermarket grill available, have seen a few cars with mesh in the grill replacing the factory inner part of the grill.

check if its got an ABS fuse maybe? or go try out the brakes and stomp on them to see if they lock up maybe? No one will be able to tell you if it has ABS from just what you've written.

failing that take a photo of the engine bay / brake calipers and someone will enlighten you

The differences are minor, mainly to do with intake. other thing is the gearbox ratios, check the build plate if the transaxle code is C-56 its the later revision. (assuming it is a manual)

open bonnet and look for the ABS valve body thing.. drivers side, up the front, just under the windscreen washer bottle if i remember correctly. big metal thing with lots of thin metal brake lines coming out of it. :)

follow the brake lines from the master, if they go to a big sliver box thingy then split off to fronl left front right and rear (i think) its got ABS if from the master th pipes just go straight to the calipere then its not got ABS

Hmm so the ABS is an optional kind of thing on ae101 then? I will have a look tomorrow under the sun see if its got that ABS box thing.

So the grills that I have seen around are actually home made? they are so nicely done I couldnt tell  I remember I have done one of my ae101 back in the day from the memory I have done a terrible job

will take some photos of the actual car, engine bay and brake calipers and post them up soon.

don't worry about posting photos (unless you want to) if you follow the above advice and find the ABS box.

Yeah my neighbour just cut the centre of the grill out and meshed it and painted it black, might be able to find aftermarket one but i doubt it.

Hi guys, finally got to take some pictures, I assume this is the silver box mentioned above?

I couldnt figure out myself if this is it, and would anyone have a facelift front grill for sale? mine came with pre-facelift grill even thought its a 94, and does anybody know how to clean the yellowy stuff on front headlights?

I don't spy any extra metal tubing around drivers side strut, so no ABS from what I can tell.

The ABS pump should live under the washer reservoir.
Can't quite see if it is there in your pics.

You have a C56 gearbox, this is the closer ratio version. Non LSD

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Wouldn't abs be as easy to find as turning the key to on and seeing if an ABS light shows up?

Thx for the reply guys, lets me know more about my car, i took another picture around the washer reservoir, I am guessing it doesnt have ABS coz there is no ABS light when i turn the key on. and nothing looks like the picture Mr Revhead showed.

Image

After having the car for almost 2 weeks now, i have to say this is a very smooth car, definately the best overall condition ae101 I have owned!!

I Was trying to find a front lip the other day and found one on speedfactory but it costs $350 for a front lip, not to mentioned I have to get it painted too 8O Im wondering where you guys get your body kits from? coz I have seem some nice ones around the street.

I found Autosol (paste in a tube) was easier than brasso.
Buy it at repco
