no no no the ST185 Group A is simply the export market designation of the JDM only RC, the ST185 spec A is just the JDM widebody model of the standard GT-Four

Let me guess it's got an A on the doors? This usually makes the average punter think that they own a Group A which is bullshit, it is simply a Type A which as I said before is the JDM widebody model with the flared gaurds, should also have 15" alloys and the larger disks and single piston callipers instead of the 14" wheels and twin piston callipers. AFAIK all the widebodies have steel turbines too but have a look on the intercooler cover and see if it says "twin entry ceramics power" or something along those lines.
The driveline is the same as all other GT-Four models, and as far as Toyota thinking it was a Group A you probably would to if all you did all day was oil changes on Camry's and Corollas

There is no A on the doors, only an A on the boot lid. I'll have a look tomorrow at the engine bay - bit too dark at the mo.

So you think its worth it 2L? ITs pretty nice to drive i must admit.

Have a good look around dude because that's fairly expensive for an ST185 and don't forget they're 15 years old now! But they are good cars but can be highish maintenance.
As far as the boot goes, that's a result of the rear suspension changes to the 4wd models which does kill your boot space unfortunately, other than that all your other sounds will fit no worries.

Thanks 2L. Had a drive on the motorway and its running very smooth. Had it up to 160 and found it needed a wheel balance, but the turbo and engine are running very smoothly.

I'll talk with the owner about what the car is and see if i can get the price down a bit.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

remember to point out all that rust, the doors falling of, the turbo needs replacing, the intercoler is stuffed, the engine is rusting from the inside out.

that should knock off a few k :)

I wouldnt mind finding out more about my gt-four.

What can you tell from these numbers

Model: E-ST185H-BLMVZ
Engine: 3S-GTE
Frame no: ST185-0022048
Color/Trim: 202 FQ10
Trans/Axel: E150F - 734
Plant/Built: A54

Its a 92 Widebody, has the twin entry turbo ceramics power on the IC. Does it have the RC transmission?

Thanks oh and sorry for the hi-jack  :D

Looks like it has a ceramic turbine which is unusual I would've thought for a Widebody, guess it might've been an option or just luck of the draw, at the end of the day it doesn't really matter though as they're fairly similar in terms of power and response, as for having an RC gearbox, the E150F is just a standard ST185 box, the RC box is an E151F but be thankful you have the standard box as the RC box has a tall final drive which dillutes the performance and accelleration, if you ever have to replace or want to upgrade the gearbox, just go straight to an ST205 box.

On the firewall,
The Group A and the RC are not different!!! Only the badging is depending on the market it was specified for, the Type A, spec A or whatever you want to call it is simply a jdm widebody model, nothing more nothing less.

*click* now my 'brain' understands.
I think the source of my confusion was that I have seen Group A cars with both the bonet types.
Probably just someone sticking an 'A' badge on their car

looked at the code and this is what is there.

Model: E-ST185H-BLMVZ
Engine: 3S-GTE
Frame no: ST185-0010886
Color/Trim: 040 FQ10
Trans/Axel: E150F - 734

i'm buying the car for the price that i agreed upon.
I've been over the receipts and the amount of work that has been done is well worth it. i don't forsee a problem with the engine for a good while yet so maintenance should be low over the next couple of years.

care to post up some pictures there lunchie? I'd just like to see the car.
As for the stereo headunit and mags etc, i have all the car audio gear already and the mags can wait till i afford some 18"s. Paint on this one is all good as well.

I'll try and get some pics up when my mate comes round with his camera

Hi just my 2cents worth.

I thought to export version of the JDM RC was the Groupe A not Group A, the export version to NZ & Australia also had the 260kph speedo.

Cheers, Mark

the group A and spec A have the same turbos.
theres 2 versions of the export type (in rhd) iv got a small glitch in my epc so can only check one. it has the same turbo as grp a etc.

there appears to be 3 or 4 different gearboxes for them.

stinger: yous in a normal wide body jdm car. and its black. or was when it left the factory
