Car misses + Help

Postby Zyros » Mon Feb 13, 2006 6:16 pm

Hey all..

My car misses and is exactly the same as described here..

For the past few months I have had a problem with my 2001 Toyota Corolla (manual) sputtering and jerking when I start out and in low gears. I can press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it doesn't seem to make it go. Also, the rpms drop and the car nearly shuts off. However, once I get going, everything is fine its usually just when I am first accelerating or when I am in low gears and/or stop and go. I have my fuel injection system cleaned and my spark plugs changed but this did not solve the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any suggestions, mechanic couldnt fix it.. he changed the fuel filter and HT leads..

Ive changed : Spark plugs, thermistat, HT cap, Coil.

Whats this MAF sensor? Where is it located.. please help me lol..

Thanks ( ae92 corolla )

Have you checked the fuel pressure? Why your mechanic did not check the fuel pressure?
MAF = Mass Air Flow meter.
if you have one it should be attached to the air filter box. Big aluminum thing, cant miss it.

Ah, i think i know the one.. On ae92's is commonly bolted into the airbox right? (is it the same as the MAP? )

Nop. he didnt check that.. ive nailed it down to these final few options.

MAF faulty, Dizzy, Fuel pressure, Throttle position sensor (although the problem only occurs when warm)

How do i check the fuel pressure?? Very new.

That would sound like the best option at this point except the other mechanic sucked up my money on a whole set of HT leads, fuel pump.. My neighbor who completed an apprentiship.. HT cap, Thermistat, Spark plugs, Coil..

Which leaves me with, well seen my workplace closes in 2 weeks.. Not enough money hence the second thread on this here.
