How long do i have to do any repairs once i go for the cert? Is it the same time as a warrent or shorter?

It is best if you already have the car to take it to the compliance center or organise a visit to inspect the car.
These guys are genuinely interested in helping you and will give you good advice. They wont have a problem in checking your car and paperwork for you to let you know if it is worth your while to proceed. At least that is my experience. I use the AA compliance center in Penrose, they have another on the Shore.
Real life example 3: I have another car that got a punch in the nose. 1 of the inspectors was going to be in my area so I asked him to swing by for a look. No problem, he dropped in had a quick look and told me what would be needed to pass inspection. As long as you are civil and don't muck them around or try to do something dodgy they are a great help.

Oh ok im in the position of buying a car that is deregd for cheapish. So it would be nice it the guys did give it a look and tell me if it is worth fixing. If not ill just put all the gear into a regoed body.
