A) If car is dusty \ lightly dirty do it at home using the following
Start with m
Finish with m
FYI Youll need a ton of microfiber cloths (approx 10, 8 for step one and 2 for step 2)

Re: Dynamat on Transmission Case ?
I just had a look at the spec sheets too. Might not be as bad as I thought but I still wouldn't do it myself. Is the rattle just a sound or a vibration being transmitted to the chassis producing sound in the car?

Re: Dynamat on Transmission Case ?
Not too sure how hot a transmission gets but if people run oil coolers on them then they have the potential to get up there in temperature. Enough to disturb the Dynamat adhesive.

Dynamat on Transmission Case ?
Been chasing the cause of gear rattle on my Mitsi Colt, and failing a fix (car being put back together as I type), I was wondering what people think about Dynamatting the countershaft portion of the transmission case (and perhaps the firewall near it ?)....this is wear the gear rattle \ lash noise ...

Re: Gear Rattle Question
Update, got clutch back from balancers today and they drilled out about 5 grams from flywheel, and also a few spots on the pressure plate.
They also noted the spline/hub on the disc had both axial and radial play... Not sure if this is normal but being Sachs brand I wouldnt run it past the germans ...

Re: Gear Rattle Question
Damper springs are stock, autoclutch only did the facings on the disc.
The rattle is coming from countershaft gears, happens mainly on idle, all low gears on anything but constant throttle, and decel in all gears at all speeds.
Really bugging me as the whole ordeal so far has costed nearly 1000 ...

Re: Gear Rattle Question
Yep I understand about engine torque pulses and gear lash \ clatter.
What I dont understand though is the issue barely existed prior to changing the clutch slight rattle in neutral, now its 4 times louder, in all gears, and especially bad when deceling \ coasting.

Gear Rattle Question
Due to a slipping clutch, I had my stock clutch on the Mitsubishi Colt upgraded at Autoclutch (Refaced with Kevlar\Carbon), Flywheel resurfaced, Uprated pressure plate fingers).

Re: Gear Rattle + Release Bearing Chirp
Ok so i added the uuc redline cocktail, no difference
. Im just gonna drive it and look at going back to oem clutch and new gearbox for good measure.
Got me stumped how a pressure plate uprate and different facing material could cause gear rattle to that extent.

I'm hoping you guys can help clear this up for me, I've been told the clutches in the gen 4 3sgte are different to the gen 2 and 3, is this true or will one clutch kit fit across the board?

Re: GT-Four RC turbo problem?
Send your clutch, plate and flywheel to Autoclutch in Auckland $500ish to get the whole lot rebuilt and upgraded, much cheaper then a new OEM or buying an Exedy HD.
Dont forget a new release bearing as well. Autoclutch should be able to supply for $60-80
