I used to have a K50 / 3.9:1 on the back of my 4AGE. It was okay, but not great.
Now have a T50 / 4.1:1 and it is much better.
On the previous setup used to run out of oomph at about 165kph on the long straight at Taupo.
The current setup is still pulling very well at 140kph. I haven't had an ...

Re: Subaru Legacys
I recently bought a 2005 2.0GT wagon, so turbo 2L, leather, the works pretty much. Single turbo model.
Open road, driving sensibly I am getting around 7.8L/100km. That was to Rotovegas and back, obeying the speed limit 99% of the time and generally just cruising along.
Around town but at least half ...

LiFe Batteries for vehicles
I came across these a little while ago.
http://www.mrpositive.co.nz/life-batteries/
The tech is familiar to me as I have dealings with the RC/hobby world and frankly they're pretty interesting.
Anyone used these? Any long term experience?

Re: Optima Red Top Batties.
I had one years ago which had a similar issue, but I assumed it was because at the time I had a dodgy alternator that would slowly discharge the battery when not running. Took me ages to realise that something was amiss as I hardly used the car. I wonder now if it wasn't in part due to a similar ...

Re: Reflective Tape on the car
It's pretty wide open as far as reflective tape goes, as it's a fairly passive device.
Use red on the back, and silver/white on the front.
*however* that said, I've never seen it look anything other than appallingly tacky on cars ... there's an Echo I see around the place with lots of tape on it ...

Reflective Tape on the car
Okay. Might seem like a strange thing to want to do. But as I get older I get more "safety conscious". I bought some reflective tape for the old bicycle and I was thinking a couple of thin strips in a few strategic places on the car seemed like a good idea. I have a black car and I don't feel like ...

New exhaust and no O2 sensor
So after years of neglect my exhaust gasket decided to give up the ghost.
It felt like time to give the car the extractors I'd always promised it.
The question came up of whether or not the O2 sensor needed to go back in.
For now I have opted to leave it out as they did not have the little flange ...

Re: Coolant temperature
Preventing hot air from getting to your intake would seem like a wise idea for any car.
Used to see alot of "cold air boxes" that were a joke, as the pick up for the box was still somewhere relatively hot!
Unless general opinion has changed since I last bothered to read about this stuff. A cold air ...

Re: Lighting in the garage - How to?
Technically the previous peeps are correct. The final connection back to the existing circuit should be completed and signed off by an electrician/electrical inspector.
However. If I were to think about how to do it I would say...
Lights are always in parallel in a house.
Phase to phase, neutral to ...

How do you "widen" fuel hose?
Had to replace a length of fuel hose on the car to get it on the road again. Took off the old one off and went to ripco to buy an identical replacement. Got that....

How reasonable is reasonable? I remember Woolf mufflers in Auckland quoting around $300 for some very basic headers, that was some time ago though.Stott69 wrote:Bazda has just priced me up getting Sinco manifold and dump pipe, then procoating it. Exhaust wrapping
Hi.
Been out of the game for a while (and wasn't that deep in the game to begin with).
Looking for people's experiences with various techniques to insulate the exhaust system.
I have tried a fibreglass wrap, which seemed to work well enough, but all it took was a couple of scraps (speed bumps ...
