Not too bad with rust luckily.
I’ll go get a few estimates this week and let you know what they say.

Iconic Restorations on Falsgrave Street are good

Hmm, that may be overkill.

Price-wise, I'm expecting to spend between $3k-$5k. Does that sound about right?

Chch Panel beaters for restoration recommendations?

Hey All.

I've got an '84 AW11 MR2 which I'm restoring. It has a little rust a few dents and needs a full respray.

Has anyone in Chch got any experience with getting restoration work done and can recommend (or warn against) a local panel beater?

Thanks

Cheap place for Aircon regas

Hey all.

I'm after a cheap place to get my aircon regassed.
I don't really want to have it leak tested, then be told that I had to spend $500 before they'll gas it, I just really want the gas put in, then if it fails it's my problem....

Does anyone know of anywhere around CHCH, that'll do ...

Question about changing speedo cluster

In my daily hack (XF Fairmont) my speedo has started playing up, So I have managed to pick up a cheap second hand one.

But of course the k's on the speedo are quite a lot less than the one in my car. Will this matter when I go to get a warrant or anything?

Or will no one actually care about it ...

Perky, you are basically right, just buy a Pot from Dick Smith for a few dollars, and put it in-line with you light feed.

If all else fails you can take the end plate off the gearbox bellhouse, and wedge a screw driver in the fly wheel ring gear.

Not the best idea but it can work.

Have you tried wedging a power bar on the ground, and flicking the starter motor for a second?

If you need an explaination of what to do just ask.

If you do try it make sure you take the cable of the coil, so the car can't start.

[EDIT]Ooops, took too long to type that  [/EDIT]

I had a quick word to my mechanic (family friend) and he seemed to think that is a lie. He said the AFM's are set up on flow benches, and should not be adjusted, like some people who think that it is a good idea to turn the gear on them forwards a couple of teeth.
