The funniest thing about everyone whinging on about whether or not a "new" ae86 is going to come out or not, is the fact that 99% of this forum (and many others for that matter) would never even consider purchasing a new car anyway, so why would toyota even bother. People whinge about paying 10grand ...

Get a batty

All the cool kids are doing it

But on a serious note has anyone else noticed the recent influx in very rough looking series 5 or 6 rx7's? They are quickly loosing face as a serious performance car and turning into the next wrx/evo/vr4 etc.

Garanted I don't like common cars so ...

Anything that fits onto the jz or m engines will be worth a little bit. But you can get adaptor plates pretty easily now, so if the price is too steep people will look for other options and you will have a few grands worth of gearboxes you can't sell.

Engine weight

I am looking into a possible JZ conversion, but I don't want my car to be too much of a 'lead tipped arrow'

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much a 2JZ-GE engine weighs? (or any variation of 1jz-ge, 1jz-gte, 2jz-gte to get a rough idea)

Jeeze. Now I know why I live at oldschool.co.nz. I remember when people at toyspeed liked and knew old cars. Ohwell.
Anyway, these motors are fantastic.
They came about in the early 70's and the first models with dohc and twin side carburetors (these things people used before efi ) made 110-125 ...

Don't give up man, you will be able to do it. It has been done before. Don't take the example of a ford engine as meaning that it can't be done. Trying to tune 3 carbs will be a real hassle to get reliable in my opinion. Just for a little encouragement have a look at this.

Just a side note, have you noticed that the oil return from the turbo to the sump goes down through the engine mount.
A friend and I fitted one to a SR running a 3T and ran into afew issues as factory 3T-GTEU cars use a different mount.
Thought I'd mention it just in case..
As for radiator, I ...

I was talking about the specific original, tri-mesh woven, poly-corseil strap with the two peice, lightweight, alloy clip and 3/4 pillar mounted restraint. Conclusive with a steel, spring loaded, dual-way action coil. Individual to the Lisse XL model AE85's.

Thanks for your interest.

I disagree. They can, and do issue you with a sticker if you have ANYTHING on your car which makes it un-warrantable, be it cut springs, bald tyres, loud exhaust or tints. You don't need a certain amount of illegalness or anything.
Its completely at the officers discretion as to whether the car is ...

Thats crazy, I'd say they would have gotten a pretty awesome fine for driving on a green sticker.
When I've gotten them the cop has always let me drive home for pink and on green stickers they allow you to drive to get repairs aswell. They also give you a little pink slip stating your home address ...

35m is heaps. I'm not sure its thats certifiable even if you use adaptor plates.
The offset is from where the wheel bolts on to the centre of the mag as i understand.. and yes there are quite afew fwd 4x114.3 vehicles. Even most new sylvias, cefiros etc with 4x114.3 pattern are actually fwd offset.
