4AGE 20v AC compressor on 16v
Is there anything that needs to be considered when attempting this? Different bracket? Wiring and control I will sort out.

Re: Diagnosing head gasket
Ok just to finish this topic off, the car fixed itself - no more smoke. Im guessing it was simply oil in the exhaust. Runs perfectly fine now, no coolant used, etc. Hmmmm.

Flywheel and clutch compatibility
Hi guys. What is the relationship between engine, gearbox, flywheel, and clutch?
My 4AGZE smallport was mated to my C52 gearbox through a lightened flywheel and suitable clutch, I presume. It bolts up to the flywheel just fine, and is the right diameter, afaik - 212mm. Everything looks right. When ...

Re: Diagnosing head gasket
I once managed to get my turbo 16v to run, poorly, with a boost leak tester blocking the intake. Helped that there were still a few leaks, though!

Re: Diagnosing head gasket
This is also extremely interesting, especially as I have had IAC valve issues.

Edit: Im actually more and more convinced this was the initial problem. It completely explains low compression across all cylinders, and failing to start. That it now produces smoke is something new, I think. It could ...

Re: Diagnosing head gasket
Are you losing any coolant or is there any black oily bits floating in the radiator? That was what I got when my head gasket was leaking.
On another note I have seen cars sound like they had no compression and wouldn't start until some oil or fuel was tipped down the spark plug hole and I'm pretty ...

Diagnosing head gasket
Sup. Silvertop 4AGE 20v was running perfectly fine for a while, though it did overheat a bit when a core plug developed a hole and I had to drive it, gingerly, a little bit further than I should have. The other day I tried starting it - it fired one spark, then no more, and sounded as if all the ...

Re: Spark plug for my 4AGTE
Got some 1SZ-FE coils now. A bit taller, same connector and pinout, and give great spark with the BCPR6EIX-11 plugs.

Re: Spark plug for my 4AGTE
Great, thanks for the info. As an aside, while 3SGE coils seem to work, they are a little short, so I might go with 2NZFE coils, as they are longer.

Re: Spark plug for my 4AGTE
I sent the Megasquirt down to have its four ignition outputs upgraded, and it came back with two. Sigh. Its gone back down now to be fixed, after I complained about it.
Just wired each trigger wires together with two coil trigger wires (1-4, 2-3).

Re: Spark plug for my 4AGTE
Its a weird issue. Im running them in wasted spark config. Testing each cylinder independently, they all fire ok. Testing each wasted spark pair, the engine runs on two cylinders fine. But on all four, its like its running on three. Just wanted to check if my plugs might be the issue, but if it runs ...

Spark plug for my 4AGTE
Hi guys. Been running BCPR6EIX-11 iridium tip with the factory distributor without issue. Now that Im going with 3SGE coil on plugs, will I need to change to something else?

Re: Bulk wire sourcing
Thanks for the advice, and youre right, the high current cables will need to branch off at some point. Currently I have the battery relocated to the front, with big cable running to the factory positive battery terminal junction and wrapped in many layers of tape, lmao. Ill be relocating to the boot ...

Re: Bulk wire sourcing
Thanks for that great response. I have already revised my target wire gauge from 12 to 16 due to some measurements that confirmed it was overkill. I agree that if Im going to do this, I need to do it right. Here is the wiring plan Ive been revising for the better part of a month or so..

Re: Bulk wire sourcing
This is probably a very expensive way of doing it but might allow for all the different colours you need.
Purchasing a LINK or Haltech 5m loom then using that. This obviously only covers the engine so not sure what else you plan on doing.

Bulk wire sourcing
Hey. Gonna start on my big rewire job soon, and Ill need a lot of colored wire. Where can I source like 15m each of as many colors as possible? Looking to use 14-12AWG for my current carrying stuff (to handle big loads like pumps, and lower loads too just for simplicity), and like 22-18AWG or ...

Re: Cranking voltage drop
Had time to look today, and found a 1v drop from the battery to the body. Unacceptable! After redoing the mounting point for the ground cable, its now dropping much less.
