Is a 12.87 quarter mile not fast? 8O . Thats a fairly general assumption.

Thanks for that,

How would I go about blocking the oil drain? Could I not just use an oil catch can etc (or am I thinking of the wrong thing here).

For specs check out the auction:

Good buy? I think it seems quite cheap for the work done.

Ok I have now been offered a bigport head that has a kelford cam grind and been ported etc of a rally car.

a) Is this compatable with the smallport block without modifications? (fairly sure it obviously will).

b) Can I still run ITB's as easily as I could with a smallport head, and will they ...

It just said on the spec sheet: Block: 16valve AE92 etc
Head: 20valve AE101 etc

Like that, then it went on to list the cam specs etc.

What I was really wondering is if I will get more power with a 20valve head with a cam grind or a 16 valve head with a cam grind. (logic would say the 20 ...

20v head on 16v block

Hey guys,

Yes done a search and found relative material but not quite what I was looking for.

After watching a video of a race at the tskuba circut (all AE86's), I noticed that the majority of the cars were running 16v blocks with 20v heads.

I have a 16v smallport redtop that i'm putting ...

Best place to get your flywheel lightened?

Hey I'm in Tauranga and I want to get my flywheel lightened but I wouldn't have a clue where to go around here.

Anyone had any good experiences at certain places?

Also would anyone recommend going aftermarket (i.e. Jun lightened flywheel) over getting stock one lightened? And how light would I ...

Also look for rust on the rear wheel arches and around the braces that hold in the rear seatbelts.

Also below the rear lights under the bumper, thats where the main rust on my AE85 showed up.

Not structual but still a pain :(

its be cheaper top rebuild what you have back into 4agze spec.ie new 4agze pistons

Will it? By the sound of it i'm looking at:

$400-$500 min for pistons
$500 min for supercharger and pulleys quite possibly more for belts etc.

or $600-$800 for a complete engine off trademe or similar ...

Nah I heard someone say intake manifold and I was like WTF? didn't think it mattered.

I have rwd extractors already (however only standard AE85 ones) I'm not sure if these are up to handling the 4agze or not?

By the way thanks for all your help.

I'm not sure I think it's standard but I just heard that you have to swap the intake manifold over or something??? As I said engine conversions are sort of new to me. I can't see any reason why the whole engine couldn't just be swapped over.

Converting 4agze to rwd set up

I've got myself an AE85 project car running a smallport supercharged engine (currently in the car).

The guy I got it off converted it to N/A and put high comp pistons from a 20v in it ( also changed the ecu, loom etc).

Now I wanna go back to a supercharged setup for a bit more power and I ...

Starter Motor

Hey guys I've just purchased an AE85 liftback .

It's currently running a 4-age smallport supercharged engine (redtop i've been told, without the supercharger and silvertop pistons) mounted on a T50 box. I've only worked on silvertop engines before so I don't know what starter motor will fit this ...

How much do you think this is worth???

Hey guys

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... key=163362

Just looking at the AE85 on this auction and i'm pretty keen on it but having never purchased or owned a car like this I have no idea how much it's worth.

He said 2k but I think that's too high considering it's not going.

Any feedback would be great. 8)

Mate I don't know why you want to try and get to 260kph.

It is very very very very (is that enough very's lol) dangerous.

I have done it with my mate in his WRX (and yes I now realise how stupid and dangerous it is).

You get tunnel vision and any wrong move and you are gone (dead or worse ...
