what about the manual turbo diesel? 1.9L turbo unit used in a bunch of other cars.

Fiat make diesel vans, can't be to unreliable and either could the manual box.

Or have I been hiding in a hole?

voltage regulator?

The girlfriends Mazda has been blowing bulbs. So I measured the voltage across the terminal 17v. 17v across the battery as well.

What's the deal with the alternators voltage reg do these blow often? Has recently been in an accident, would this attribute to it?

I think that was his point. You can put a 2t rated tow bar on a starlet. The tow bar might be sweet doesn't mean the rest of the car is.

I've had this with a guy in a Porsche. He was driving about ~110 and I was keeping below 104. I figured he was wanting to go for a spirited drive soI pulled to the left to let him pass before the twisties.

He then proceeded to drive well below the suggest speed signs around the bends.
