Re: 4AGE 20V Performance - What have you got?

Isn't an aftermarket ecu the next move? Any of your theories will change drastically once you optimise the ignition timing and fuel through a link.

Exhaust does make a good difference and you've highlighted a few things which I know work but understanding why they work is all to do with timing of ...

Re: Fielder Gearbox and LSD

Yeah 3rd-4th is really close, only to be super dissapointed by the huge gap between 4th and 5th if I remember correctly.
It's only more noticable due to the fact it drops off lift between 4th and 5th from what I hear.

Diff options are;
- TRD plate type (1.5 or 2way)
- Cusco
- Kaaz (what I've got ...

Re: 4age oil temperature

Oil starts breaking down at temps over 100deg. It can handle it for a certain period of time depending in the quality of the oil (your are using good quality oil thank goodness), the lifespan will decrease significantly.

Without an oil cooler I've seen temps of 170deg within 3 laps which ...

Re: Racecar 95db limit

Yeah I've always thought that too but then again I've always only used crappy coby resonators in the past. Adrenaline R mufflers are supposed to be quite good and even able to quieten rotaries so thought I'd give them a go. The rear tip will still be quite restrictive so I'm hoping it won't be too ...

Deserves a repost.

I'm building another ae101 with a blacktop next week. Going to do a 2.5" exhaust with adrenalin R resonator and standard rear resonator with twin 2" tips. Will report back if it is road legal or ...

Re: Racecar 95db limit

That's rough! All the NI circuits test noise at the perimeter of the track boundary.. Manfield owns all the land around the circuit so it's always pretty safe. Some classes such as the f5000's won't race if they have to adhere to a noise limit so naturally they do a lot of their meetings at Hampton ...

Re: Racecar 95db limit

Side exit exhaust pointing towards the inside of the track normally does the trick.

Also add a proper muffler resonator it will help heaps
heaps. Get a decent flowmaster etc and you won't notice any drop in performance

Re: Toyota C60 Close Ratio help

Would be worth doing some research on the bellhousing to make sure it's that simple. I found an 1zz mrs with a c56 so I'm guessing the bellhousing are interchangeable (wasn't a normal c56 bellhousing/diff bearing arrangement)

Re: Toyota C60 Close Ratio help

Yes they are the same. Clutches swap over between the two. Only issue becomes bellhousing. Need to use a c56 front half/bellhousing which has a different diff bearing Size to the c60 diff bearing. As for axles you'll need to use sw20 mr2 non turbo axles.

Re: 4AGE 20V Performance - What have you got?

Will be interesting to see what the new engine in the ae82 makes with the pistons and valves you've supplied. The guys at colliers are very impressed with the quality of the gear so that's normally a pretty good sign..

Re: Bolt in roll cage

Not entirely accurate Leon. My rally car has a bolt in cage which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence..

There is a design guideline for bolt in cages somewhere (don't ask me where sorry) but generally it's so much more work it's just not worth it.
Bolt in cage would have to be specifically built ...

Re: 4AGE 20V Performance - What have you got?

I think what we all have to keep in mind is all this talk is only in theoretical Wonderland. In reality by doing the basics right and making everything work together some really good results can be reached without much effort.

Both marks corolla at 120kw atw and our ae82 at 146kw atw were both ...

Re: 4AGE 20V Performance - What have you got?

lith you may be best qualified to answer this question... In a modern ish efi engine, does tumble vs swirl actually make a difference or is the tunability of cam timing and ignition timing good enough to compensate for any side effects? How many modern engines actually worry about tumble vs swirl ...

Man that sucks I hate it when people don't do what you ask when you're paying good money. But in your situation I would (and have in the past) done the same thing. Just never gone back there again....

You've kind of got to remember most people who weld exhausts are fairly lowly trained/skilled. To ...

Re: what's limiting my power?

Mark is it worth measuring and plotting your relative pressures on each side of the turbo? Your essentially sizing a pump so knowing how much back pressure your exhaust system has at the floe you want it to make power at could be useful.

I'm doing the same thing for my more rearward seating position. Plan was to machine a small Teflon guide with enough clearance to not restrict movement. You'll never bend the steel part of the cable.

Re: Long shifter cables or extending cables

Which end do you need to extend them on? You could consider cutting the drivers end and cutting a thread onto the rod, then using a extendor with eother a rod end or the original end on the end of an internally threader pipe to adjust as long as you need.

As long as all mounting points staY the ...
