WTBorrow: Valve spring compressor

Postby Grrrrrrr! » Wed Sep 21, 2011 11:04 pm

Anybody got a valve spring compressor tool I could borrow for a couple of nights to put the valves into the MR2 head?

Also, best way of getting the old stem seals off.. molest with long nose pliers till they fall off? or is there a better way?

Cheers

If you have no luck there, the FSAE team still have my valve spring compressor, although last time I looked it seemed like they may have modified it for the smaller valve springs on the 450 (I'm hoping they unbolted and kept the attachment for bigger stuff, rather than cut it off and binned it).

I had to modify some needle nose pliers to give them a notch so they could get behind the lip on the bottom of stem seals when I rebuilt a 7MGTE head, I still have them if you want to give them a try

I'll ask Jimmy and James to see if either of them know what happened to the larger attachment for mine, one of them is bound to be responsible for modifying it

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Murphy's Law says that you will find what you're looking for the third time you look in the same box -
I've got no idea why I didn't see valve spring compressor the first 2 times I looked there!
