Anybody here do windscreen removal and refit and feel like doing a cashy? Drop me a PM if you do.

Have an SW20 that needs the windscreen removed, and refitted at a later date once car has been painted.

If you don't find anyone, smith and smith don't charge a lot to do this sort of thing. I got them to re install a windscreen I already had for $60 which I thought was pretty reasonable.

Yeah, its about $120 retail. Its 20 minutes work to pull one if you have the gear, figured somebody out there would be keen for a cashy. Might even give it a go myself, have a spare shell with a good windscreen if I break it..

I have a proper windscreen removal kit.

Only prob is I'll have to find it In my garage!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

I removed windscreens from an ae111, nightmare. Mind you I was using a brake cable I had spare from a bike. Just thread it through a hole and work it from both sides around the whole window. Shit way of doing it, but got both out eventually and for no cost other than my time / frustration.

I have to take the screen out of my ae82, so also interested. I have used a variety of box cutting knives in the past and had a 50/50 success rate, not really keen to do that again though.

I got told to use piano wire or similar (steel guitar string?) to saw the glue. Slow but safe.

Kens windscreen tool works quite well once you get the hang of it, have now removed the front and rear screens in the mr2 and the windscreen from the parts car.

I bought my windscreen removal kit form Sulco

But can't seem to see the kit in their catalog...
http://www.sulco.co.nz/Category?Action= ... windscreen
Closest is this kit

But the kit I got only had the long skinny tool (second from the right) and the handles and wire (bottom left)

Long skinny tool pushes wire through sealant around windscreen and then you attach the handles to the wire and cut the sealant with a sawing motion.

3m Paint and rust stripper disc or wire brush... but only if you want to get back to bare metal/rust holes.
Otherwise just cut with a sharp blade and leave a nice thin layer, but do this just before you glue new windscreen in so it has clean surfaces to bind to.
