You want new?

I've got a pair of engine stands I'll be getting rid of once the engines on them are gone. Also have an engine crane I'm considering parting with.

Doesn't have to be new, just looking for something that has not lived outside - would like something thats been looked after, dont mind spending a little time on it patching paint or whatever..

How long to you want to get shot of them?

Every so often supercheap have their engine cranes on special for like $250, pretty hard to beat that for value. I got a topmaq one for a bit more than that and it's pretty damn handy.

I've seen it on sale twice in the last six months, so unless you need it asap, it might be on sale again in a month or two. This is the topmaq one I got for $280 or $290. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 362988.htm

I have borrowed one before from another TS'er a couple times, but decided it would be handy to have around when I wanted.

I can't get rid of them until the engines they are on go, the 2JZ is going to Ryan hopefully in a coupla weeks. The 1JZ is whenever somebody buys it. Need to keep the engine hoist until they are gone as well, to aid in loading for removal.

None have lived outside, always been in garage. Can grab some photos if you're keen and don't need something super urgent?

Would invest in something heavier duty than tha SCA ones, unless they do a decent version...1250kg doesnt give you much head room really.

Look into the Wayco ones, they're very well made. Plus they rekit all their rams with NZ spec seals and fluid. I assume jbod works for blackwoods or the like, definitely get a price from him.

Bump, JBOD's pricing was good for quality gear but im looking for something from china - or at least priced in that area.

Should have snapped up that supercheap sale - hindsight is 20/20

Savebarn has mostly cheap junk, but i did pick up a cheap gravity spray gun that actually works pretty well..
2T engine crane looks same as the one we have downstairs, worked fine for lifting an sw over its transaxle, and several big iron (pig iron?) motors out of various muscle cars.

Haven't had any issues with my 1Ton crane. Lifts the escort shell no worries. 2Ton trademe ones will give you more of a lifting buffer, but quality is all the same i'm sure. Problem is these days it's hard to know if the premium you're paying is actually towards better quality parts or just because they claim it's better. I'd back a brand new 1Ton unit over a 2nd hand left outside of years 2ton unit personally.

For normal use I imagine you'd get away with using it at the 1T, 750KG or 500KG positions without needing the 250KG position. I'm not saying you should buy 1ton over anything else. Just that I don't think for light diy use there is much to gain from spending more. I paid more for my floor jack than engine crane as that gets a lot more use.

All that said, I chose what I did based on price and size of the crane when not in use (I barely have half a garage) and what load i'd likely put it under. my2c

This one will probably close around $250 http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 468560.htm

The ones with a higher rating generally have a longer reach, or more to the point a longer reach at a given load rating.i dont think id be able to lift me engine in or out with one of the smaller ones.
