Our labour is a little over the top though... considering I only see $11 an hour from it

If your looking for a cheap job giltrap isn't the place for you, all though you will get a good job done the majority of the time.
No offence intended buddy... it was more the sheer cost more than anything else... i was not trying to imply the quote was bad or whatever... just outside my budget :D

I would HOPE its fairly regular... shes been driven by myself since 87,000ks and never missed a beat... the engine is getting a little tired though... if i had a garage id put her up on blocks and recondition it all.

Im looking for good value for money, not nessasarily a cheap job... i want to pay the minimum possible while getting a good job done... but doesnt everybody

Well, bit of an update.

I went into dairy flat motors today for a wof (good place... if it fails on lights or whatever he replaces the bulbs or if the windscreen wiper cleaner is empty he fills it up with water & tests it, he doesnt just fail it like those thieving orange ltsa places)

He reckons he can do the clutch for $200 odd + gst if i supply the clutch kit. Think im going to get him to do it - he seems pretty straight up and fairly methodical.

If your going to supply the clutch you can get a full exedy kit for about $180 (thurst bearing, pp and disc), dont pay more than that as most people can get them at that price with trade discounts/mates rates.

The exedy are just standard replacements, a brass button clutch kit would be in the range of $500. Toyota can do similar prices on genuine items too.

Also when he does the job the flywheel needs to be machined flat, the input shaft needs dry lube and the fork will need to be adjusted. Ask if he will do this because some mechanics wont if your trying to do it on the cheap.
