where to get dellorto's tuned on the north shore???

got a mate with a fwd corolla wagon, 4age and twin sidedraught dellorto's. they're not running quite right and he's trying to find someone to tune them, preferably in Auckland on the North shore but i'm sure he'll travel if there's nothing close.

any idea's???? the only car i can think of that ran twin dellorto's was the old [FATTRD] sr coupe but that got converted to injection from memory.

I think my brother got his car with twin dellorto's tuned at Shore Performance on wairau road.
That was a few years ago though

Tunned a set of twin carbs on a 18RG for me a few years back very good service

Could be worth travelling out south to see Bob @ HiTech Motorsport in Drury, he does heaps of carb stuff.

Biggest hassle you'll find with dellorto's is getting jets & other parts.

i'll pass these onto him, from the sounds of it Weber specialities will be the go.

the dellorto's have been run on a rally 4age before so i'd guess the jets must be pretty close, hopefully just a case of tuning. either that or a monster fwd burnout setup

up to him anyway, i know i wouldn't want to pay the fuel prices for a monster setup, that said i wouldn't really want to pay to have carb's rejetted either.

if the carbs were on a cammed 4ag and going on a closer to standard 4ag, then chances are the jetting will be miles off, and have crap performance/fuel economy

to buy a set of carbs that are perfectly suited to your application is a lottery...too many variables. to get them running properly, THEY will more than likely need re-jetting

theres a place on the shore called bygone autos or something, next to fraser cars, on beachhaven road, at least there was last time i checked. the dude there is supposed to know a fair bit about carbs as he specialises in older cars (as the name of the place suggests). take it there and see what he can do for you.

Ah, keeping it all in the Targa family...

Webber Specs = 'Sir Reggie', the well-known partner in crime of Mike John (event organiser). Funny guy, he knows his stuff - when we changed the Esky from a 1300cc to 1600cc motor we wandered down with our old carb, he looked at it, went out the back and came back with a collection of jets and venturis and said "this will be 99% right". Yup, sure was I have heard though from a few people that he tends to tune cars to be a little on the rich side (the Esky certainly was when cold).

Bygone Autos = Mal Clark, a well-known Targa competitor. They specialise in competition of older vehicles for Targa-style events, there are usually 4 or 5 Bygone vehicles competing each year. I'm not sure if they do the tuning in-house or contract that part out.

can recommend weber specs, I haven't had any work done by them, but always really helpful the couple of times I have gone in there and just asked a few questions etc.
