Rally of the Far North - this weekend

Postby Cahuna » Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:02 am

For those of you interested in rally-watching the Rally of the Far North is this coming Saturday (Oct 13). There are 8 special stages between Whangarei and Kaitaia with the start and finish in Paihia.

A rough itinerary is:
* Paihia, 7:05am - first car starts
* Broadwood, approx 9am - servicing
* Kaitaia, approx 10am - servicing
* Kaikohe, 12:35pm - lunchtime service
* Hukeranui, aprox 3:00pm - servicing
* Kawakawa, approx 4pm - servicing
* Paihia, 5:10pm - first car finishes

The 4 morning stages are around Broadwood, Diggers Valley and Peria while the afternoon stages are in the Hukeranui/Kawakawa area with the last SS finishing in Opua. Not sure where spectator maps etc will be available, maybe keep an ear on the radio for more info?

And if anyone does come out to watch keep an eye out for car #67 (me) and car #71 (Steve KB, aka SolbergFan).
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976
