Auckland car clubs

Postby blindnz » Wed Jun 27, 2012 9:30 am

So I'm looking at joining/helping out at a car club.

I live on the North Shore, so Puke is a bit of a hike.
But I was wondering is anyone a member of an Auckland club? and which club.

I've been looking at the Hibiscus coast club as its closer to me and should have a lot of autocross/hill climb events.

they look like they keep their website updated which is a BIG TICK, some clubs are very slack and some clubs dont even have one. On there events calender they list other clubs events apart from their own, which is also a BIG TICK, as it lets you know what else is happening in your general area if you want to go do something else.
They are a fairly active club which good too.

Hibiscus Coast Motorsport Club are a good, primarily grass roots club, however 90% of their events are on gravel.

I'm a member of the Sports Car Club of NZ (even thought a KP60 isn't exactly a sports car), and it's great. Really good bunch of guys & girls, mostly low key events like grasskhana, gymkhana, autocross & sprints, with good club points championship. They allocate club points to events run by other clubs too.

We have Tech Nights every now and then, where we go to different places and learn about stuff. Places like Pedders Suspension etc.

Also a member of the SCCNZ, have been for a few years now. We do some good events throughout the year. I have placed well in recent championships in my ae111 trueno up against much more serious cars, just by making sure to take part in as many events as I can.

I would like to do some Time Based Road rallying.
I think they called it a "timed" rally. Where you have to get from point a to point b in an exact time.

Do they do any of those events?

pretty sure they are called a Car Trial over here, not many of them around though.
