Postby duddley » Wed Jun 27, 2012 3:22 pm

Does anyone know of a place in Auckland (preferably out west) that has free recycling on old CRT tvs?. Last time I got rid of a tv was through an e waste collection day but I can't find any dates for the next collection day. cheers

If it's still working just put a sign saying "FREE" on it and chuck it on the front lawn. It'll be gone within 10-minutes

Nah, put for sale $10 and an honesty box. Be gone in 30 seconds along with the honesty box.

Last time I disposed of a TV I was 16 years old and it went like this:

- get old TV
- spend 5 hours with 3 friends stripping the heads off matches, to create tennis ball sized mass of flammable goodness with a fuse in it.
- wrap in numerous rolls of duct tape.
- insert into back of old TV
- light fuse and stand back 50m
- say goodbye to TV

I dont really want to put it on the lawn as some bastard will smash it for the copper etc and leave a mess on the lawn.
