Manual Gearbox for Toyota Corona 1988 Needed

Postby corona_st170 » Wed Aug 13, 2014 9:33 pm

Hi guys

I know I have posted this awhile ago, something similar, I have Toyota Corona 1988 ST170... S50 gearbox according to the tag on the firewall..

I need to get my hands on a *good condition* gearbox as I suspect mine is making whine noise

Does anybody have one in the Auckland area so I can pickup?? A gearbox that will fit and the starter motor at its normal spot being on the right

The crankshaft on the engine is a 6 bolt, and there are others that are 8 bolt like the 2000cc Corona 3SFE... More bolts, bigger flywheel, bigger gearbox.

Really hope someone can help... If someone has been to pick a part in the Auckland area and seen something that they think will do the job, I want to hear from you.. I don't mind paying one of you guys to help me remove one from pick a part.

If someone can look on pick a part "stock" all auckland ones and says "yip I know one that will do the job" and someone is prepared to come with me to remove it, you will be nicely rewarded :D

Thanks Marc

I have seen on the Mangere one and there is a (Caldina Model No ST190 4 Door Station Wagon - 1995 - White - Petrol - Manual 1800cc)

If this will be the car to get it off, then wonderful... Who is keen to get some extra pocket money :D this weekend?

I have a mint S53 from a Celica
By "right" you mean the exhaust side? (RHD)
It can be converted easily by drilling out the bellhousing and tapping 2 holes
What is the box code listed on your engine tag?
