Eastern Hutt Road paddock Silverstream, just North of the tip road.
TWO events, TWO different dates.
Both events count on a relatively decent amount of weather improvements because the drainage on that field is shockingly bad. It turns into mud pies and basically you can't move, so it's no fun at all. Especially not the six months it takes you to try to remove mud from the car.
So, if it's a wet week leading up to either event they will be rained off.
September 16th:
Motorkhana
So this means slaloms and stuff around cones, reversing, stopping in garages (made out of cones) and that sort of stuff. It's typically fairly low speed and only requires first (sometimes second, but rarely) and reverse gears.
No requirement for helmet overalls etc, basically safe car so make sure your battery is tied down etc (9 times out of 10 newbies have loose or completely not attached batteries, no idea why).
September 23rd:
Autocross
So this means I set up a course around the paddock with cones and you do two laps of the course as fast as you possibly can. Typically first and second gear stuff and will be likely to be bouncier than the motorkhana cos of higher speeds. Less likely to be friendly to lowered cars with bodykits.
Helmet and overalls are required.Your car will be scrutineered to MSNZ safety requirements.
BOTH EVENTS: no rally tyres. No offroad tyres. No gnarly retreads. This paddock is just too soft, so if we let people run aggressive tyres such as these, the paddock is destroyed.
$20 per driver at each event (so $40 if you are entering both ) No pre-entry needed. Paperwork on the day. Be there 8:30am.
Newbies: you can do two events after which you will need to join a car club. So if you haven't done any events before, this could be a way for you to see if you like clubsport events.
