Thieving bastards

Postby XSVWGN » Tue Jan 17, 2006 4:13 pm

Had a few mates around at my place in Newlands last night and at the end of the night they left....no big deal. 2mins later there was at nock at the door and our friends had returned to say "my car has gone". We went out side (2.30am) to find the car on the corner of salford st and newlands road.

They had smashed the window and tried to take the car but the sterring locked and so the car couldnt be stolen. They stole a wallet, discman, and a centre console peice from the interior but left the change in the ashtray.

So many cars are being hit in the newlands area. If any1 has any information please contact police and or myself on 027 245 3401. The car (90 mazda astina went into Wellington police dept today and was fingerprinted. Prints were lifted and were being put throught theri systems so hopefully they have been caught before

Ahh that sucks dude. Newlands seems to be a hot spot lately :( Two words:

Car Alarm

Even if its a cheapy $50 DIY job they wouldve ran a mile if they had opened the door and heard it go off, you guys inside wouldve been alerted aswell. Hopefully the scum are caught!!

That sucks.

But whats the use of waiting for them? Chances are their are more then one. So you will probably either:

1. Get the crap kicked out of you.
2. And if you do get them you'll most probably end up with a criminal record and probably jail time for grievous bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

They are one of the lowest forms of life, but tis not worth losing your freedom over.

Seems like the area is a worry at the moment.

Hope my mega boring car (alarmed) is okay on the road in Johnsonville.

Stink to hear that Matt, at least they didnt get too far with it... but i guess in situations like that, you'd rather have it gone and not return...

but wait... it gets worse.... to the point if you shift the weight of the car fast enough, the key falls out of the ignition 8O

having quite a few keys on your keyring also doesnt help

id consider newlands a fairly safe area. it just takes a bit of common sense. damaging cars and breaking into cars seems to be a trend at the moment among the hordes of little hoodrats that seems to wander around. so you'd be pretty brave to park on any main road or any roads that those little horis seem to wander in their travels, especially on friday or saturday nights. the increase in breakins and vandalism lately is probly due to it being the school holidays.

if you are visiting a friend who lives on a main road and you can't get parking offroad, its probly wise to find a cul de sac a bit further down the road and walk 100m to the house. unless you're confident you'll hear your alarm from inside. etc etc commen sense , shit happens , blah blah.

Leon , your car looks too boring. go on, get a nice set of chrome wheels and clear tailights and make yourself a target :D

It gets even worse than that ... you can actually over rotate the key when you switch it off, and it jams the key in the ignition barrel, and you can't switch the car on. You then have to remove the ignition barrel and rip the thing to bits.

That happened twice on Donna's $500 wonder until I got pissed off and replaced the lot.

 Nah ive never had them fall out. But I have left them at home (Lower Hutt) and driven all the way into Wellington and realised oh crap wheres my keys

Back on topic. The first thing i did in my car was put a 5 star alarm in it, The alarm worked out to cost the same as the car did :D (This was before all the bodywork/paint was done). Even if its a $500 crapper and you care about stuff being/the being stolen then id still put an alarm in it (cheap one off tardme), but pull it out when you sell it and/or craps out.

Most Police wont really care if you slap em round a bit, I mean they're theives after all....

Besides, if they say anything, just inform the officers they tried stabbing you with a screwriver or attacking you with whatever implement they happen to be weilding at the time 8)

Who you think they'd believe in that situation?

Hey nothing wrong with boring looking cars  its called stealth  thats one of the good things about the Corona, just looks like a nana mobile with 17's will be different when the KE25 & Capri are on the road though

And dont think we have ever had a problem with cars living in Elsdon, even though there are a few gang members etc around the place
