Sunday March 11th Mt Victoria Hillclimb

Postby Leon » Tue Mar 06, 2007 8:50 pm

Just got a phone call ...

Wellington car club is looking for about another four people to help marshal on this Sunday.

The bonus is, they feed you, and you can get a ride up Mt Vic in a car, usually at extremely scary speeds if my experience is anything to go by (160+ airborne in a Ford Escort).

If you are able to help out, can you please drop me a PM, and I'll put you in touch with somebody from their club.

Apparently 50+ entries so far.

Yes. Otherwise you would be watching a manic drive of the Toyota with a mandatory off-road excursion. :)

Toy_baru , you could be the 1st to make it down to the velodrome in a coROLLalot 8O

as for me , Mr revhead has come though with the replacement C.V so the mighty Panda starlet will be there without me having to "borrow" parts from the road car

best time around Manfield to date : 1:19:91

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Q. How many CVs does it take to finish an autocross?
A. Depends if it's a car or a Panda. :)

Yes, that's the one. Starts not far from the bottom of the Alexandra Road / Constable Road junction.

Spectating... probably from about 10am or so?

Jesus what a scary thought.

No, the public isn't allowed to compete in something like this.

First couple of autocross or motorkhana events yes.

What are public?
Anyone's allowed to compete. You will need a clubsport license and car club membership. So if your asking "can I turn up on a whim and run my car" then the answer is no.
But if your asking "Can I enter these types of events in the future" Then the answer is yes (with a little forward thinking).

I assumed he meant "without belonging to a car club" ... thus my hint towards autocross' (cough March 17th cough)

Yes... March 17th would be a good one for the 'public' to have a go at, although it does require pre-entry (forward thinking)
