just drive as though you are going to masterton , its well signposted , you're looking for a right hand turn opposite a caltex service station just before masterton , then you take first left then first right and you're down the side of the airport and its the last gate on the left.

Make that 2nd to last gate unless you want to go down by the river. I suppose you could always chuck two sticks in and see which one gets past you 1st - wouldn't have to pay gate charge then either :)

turned out to be nice hot day with quite a large turnout. fair few of the welly ts'ers made the trip over. my car is feeling quite battered now , but managed to keep doing running repairs during the day. i counted 4x AE101 turbos as well , go the 4age
I even managed to keep clawing my PB's down during the day so cant complain bout that.

i got about 35 videos so im going to upload them over the next week and link it for your viewing pleasure.

Yeah was a good day, there were some nice cars out there today

I bogged two of my runs , but seemed to run fairly consistant times though.

The AE101 turbos seemed to be be all in th 14s today, would of been good to have a few grudge races but the queing was a bit tricky to get right lol.

I had fun though, will be back to work on my PBs a bit with more power and some launch control :D

I dont think we done too bad considering Brent and myself are still on stock ecus and road tyres. I was only running 10 psi :?
I was finding it a little difficult to get my revs right for launch, slightley bogging twice and having to dump the clutch again.

Jeremy had bov problems and had his piping was patched up with duct tape so he couldnt run at a higher boost setting.

clutch only just survived , stil isnt slipping as it has a decent PP , but theres almost no meat left on it as the takeup point is almost right out now :?

i was lucky to even make it there , there was literally duct tape and cableties holding the car together. my bov blew off and got damaged on the way over, and i had tape sealing the hole in the piping.

i wasnt expecting much as i havent fixed my existing ecu issues either, my times were 14.7@102 , 14.6@102 and 14.5@97 , blew out the duct tape and lost boost pressure in 3rd gear on the last run so it would have been quicker.

managed to get my 60ft's somewhat under control, with consistent 2.3's , which i was happy with.still on the true street tyres i drove over with too. also stoked that i found out why i had a suprising increase in lag and loss in power, once i removed the bov the car felt 100x better :D

mph still doesnt really reflect the power tho, $&#$% if i know why. it definately feels like its got over 200kw once in gear. the heat would likely have accounted for a small loss in power but not that much. so im going to go and have a think about it, get my flatspot sorted and see if it helps.

off to manfield on monday to destroy the rest of the clutch , then i need to do clutch, engine mounts, and modify the piping to move the bov somewhere sensible.

Flygt4 what times are you expecting to get?????

For me I'm thinking of doing Masterton on the 25-26th Jan.

I would like to think I could do 12.something I no my cars good for that I suppose it will be down to me as a driver to what the car will really do I suppose..

I'm seeing times of 14-15 second range is'nt that a bit on the slow side for turboed AE 101s should'nt it be more in the 13.something range??

on paper i should have enough to do a high 12. but theres a huge difference between what you can potentially do and what actually happens.
im limiting myself somewhat my running on street tyres and i still have a couple of issues to fix. i still cant explain why my top end is short, i think my gearchange issues account for some of it but i dont know where the rest has gone. i should be able to trap 108-110mph

the other turboed 4age's were all pretty mild setups , 2 of them were around 130kw atw , not sure on the other.
with the small displacement turbo engine its really easy to screw up , by either letting it get off the boil or letting it explode into wheelspin.
also if you cant change fast and stay on power then you're straight away wasting time , which ive had issues with.
like you say , it takes a while to figure out what works for you.

the torquey 2jz's, RB25's and the like seem to perform pretty consistently. ive seen supras with 220-250 odd kw run 13.6-13.8 all day at masterton. if you can get away with your track slicks and get it to grip you should be digging deep into 13's, maybe 12's. i hope you've got a good clutch too, coz the really torquey engines can embarrass clutches when they hook up right.

I managed a PB of 15.450 I think I would have been about 15.2 on my last run of the day, but it was miss-timed and only got the 60ft & 330ft times. Good old MMP wouldn't let me re-run, even though the timing stuff up was their's.
I'll give it another go in January and try and get some stiffer springs for the rear, I'm not sure if any amount of playing around will get that bluetop into the 14s... But I will try :D

i think the old mans volvo done a 14.9 well of pb of 14.3, still running 12psi is capable of around 17 and car is really at the end of its tuning capability probably wont be much faster until he goes with a link.

will be getting the corolla over next year, will probably just enter in dyo unless i come up with the money to fit a sc12 lol

Pretty gutted i missed these ones, have just got the car sorted with the new wastegate setup, but kinda ran out of time.

130kw atw is heaps, i was running consistent 13.9-14.1's last year with 114kw atw :D

Mind you I am a little lighter than an ae101.

Will see you guys there in January.

Thanks for the vids!

I believe that the two R32's was the race I was in, I'm the blue one in the far lane, had him on the start (.59RT, he had .95) but he FLEW past me, with an 11.3! I managed a 12.75, which I was happy with.

Was a great day, I gave the sunday a miss and went to the southward car museum instead, me=nana
