i like the bbq/lake ferry idea. That would be awesome.

Just out of interest what are the new laws on cruising. Isn't it illegal now or is that purely a bylaw?

Its mostly aimed at christchurch, but is focused on stopping people from doing "laps" around popular streets in the main cities, won't affect cruises organized on here

As far as I know it it only illegal to cruise repeatedly on the designated streets, in Christchurch they have these signs on said streets

They cant stop a group of people going for a drive to a designated place (as we do on toyspeed meets), unless they are causing trouble

its to stop the flatpeaker retards driving round and around in a circle for 4 hours at 6000rpm in their GLXi Lancer with a 5" fart can on the back looking for actual Evo's to race - to put it bluntly ;)

We wont have an issue mate.

Those laws, as already explained above are only aimed at those who are driving around and around in heavily built up areas, with their sole intention being to draw attention to themselves.

A group of car fanatics meeting up to have a bite to eat, then check out each others cars and go for a drive into the middle of nowhere are not really on their immediate radar.

Its a law that I feel most genuine 'enthusiasts' dont need to be too concerned about.

hey bro, how are you doing? long time no see huh? :) How bizarre running into you again on a car forum of all places. I cant actually recall you being into cars funnily enough, but I guess we were probably always discussing the latest tunes/mixes etc, not the latest innovations in turbo compressor wheel design haha. ;)
I thought you were still in Oz for some strange reason. Hope you have been well, fire me a PM and let me know what you have been up to over the last few years so we dont railroad the thread. :)

Congrats mate :) Will catch you around at this meet hopefully once its sorted out.

P.S I had melted holes through 2 silicone couplers on the dyno the night before the drags and noticed I was only building 3psi on the way home. That cant have helped things on the day lol

Whoops I forgot that you drive yours alot. I might be the only one who doesnt daily mine hehe ;)

Im sure the definition of proper car means one that is operational, more than not, mine doesnt tick that box hehe. You will have to speak to someone else mate for a drive in a big single as mines only a baby. Well alot smaller than what I consider big atleast haha.

P.S How did your mates Hi comp honda dyno tune go?

Don't know anyone else with a Supra making as much or more power than yours - I've been in a few stock twins Supras but thats not so exciting or different.

Ran into issues during Round1 of tuning, hopefully the sole reason is because engine builder set valve clearances too tight - what are the odds one of the only things not done by us didn't work out? It seemed OK until high lift cam then seemed like it lost all steam (prob. dynamic compression going out the window).

After my flatmate reset them them to the cam manufacturer's specifications the car sounded and drove a lot nicer, couldn't start/settle to idle without throttle intervention previously but now it will every time. We are back on the dyno from 10am on Saturday if you and/or Simon are around?

No worries mate, as soon as I can afford a half cage, Im more than happy to harness you in for a none too spectacular lap somewhere ;) For the record, there are guys with TT's who would eat me alive so I think its more down to the familiarity of the car/driver/track than how much outright power one has.

Sorry to hear you ran into issues with the car, its typically someone else who creates the problems...well usually it is. Atleast you have worked out what the issue was and can now strap it down on saturday and have a play around. If Im free on Sat, Ill come down and say hi.

Anyway, sorry lets get this thread back on topic hehe :)

Now where were we???

Meat, petrol, windy roads, sticky tyres, cool dense evening air....

Mr Girvs, I was under the impression that the law of "Unecessary display of acceleration" was punishable by on the spot licence suspension? I could be wrong but I tend to drive at a grampa pace unless on the track these days.

Mr Lith, more than happy to take you for a drive on the street if that is what you were after, I presumed you meant a "warp factor 9" drive around Manfield one day. Once I have it running again, Ill get in touch :)

Yours Sincerely

Mr Ree :)

Hi mate, are you talking about organised events, or track/fun days?

I know a couple of guys who have taken a passenger around Manfield and Taupo over the last few years and they dont even have a half cage fitted. This was all at privately hired days rather than MSNZ sanctioned events though.

Any info appreciated guys :)

I don't know what the cost will be like, but I've got a voucher and will be trying it in Feb, so I will see what their normal prices are. I'm guessing typical go karting price of about $25 - $35 ish.
