Car rental for racetrack?

Postby ben » Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:22 am

I really want to get back on the track - what options are there for taking fullsize cars on the track if you haven't got a car?

I don't want to go go-karting - I want to do tarmac rally / autox / manfield - something like that - but don't want to buy a car...

Are there any options round welly / palmy?

You is disjointed from reality.

What makes you think that car hireage could be cheaper than buying a car? If you want to do more than one event... buy a car.

You can lease competition cars from places like www.rallydrivenz.co.nz but dude, it's going to cost you a bundle. Plus, don't even think about how much it will cost you if you bend it.

To lease a car, you need deep pockets, or very good sponsorship.

There are no places that do car days like the formula ford division do? Where you can rock up and do driver training for a day in their cars?

There are those bike engined mini cars, can't remember their website but they do driver training with them and stuff. Not a full size car but looked bloody fun, they generally use scale V8 touring car bodies.

yeah but for the price of one of those u can go racing in several catagouries.

anything that some one is leasing will be a fairly $$ car, therefore a $$$ package.
shop around, buy a well developed club car for $5k and have some fun

Actually pretty cheap compared to a weekend rallying since you don't have to buy the car, pay for tyres, safety notes etc etc.

You are right though, better to pic up a cheap club car and throw it at every hillclimb or sprint going.
