Bah there overrated unless the course designer makes a course where at least one of the corners opens rather than tightens - or you have enough room to actually flick the car between the cones as you enter.
However at kapiti they can be quite usefull for
a) entering the hairpin backwards
and
b) dragging the tyres onto the track to run over next lap and then leave them there for you to pick up
