Who's your mechanic?

Postby The_Lorax » Sat Aug 05, 2006 11:00 am

Hi guys,

Who do you normally take your car to in Wellington?

My front engine mount is broken, because one of the nuts inside the chasiss has fallen off. I've called around and no one can quote me on the job this morning.

I don't know any of the mechanics in town, so who does good work? Someone who knows there way around an AW11 mr2 would be an advantage.

I suppose I could just go see Toyota :)

i go to brendon motors on taranaki street for warrants and stuff i cant be assed dealing with . its under santa fe.
they are very good , can usually get cars in at short notice and locate the best priced parts quickly.
also a couple of the guys there seem quite knowledgable on 4age stuff, which is handy as well :D

When I was living in Welly I used North City motors for mechanical and warrant stuff. Graeme at the Tawa branch is very switched on and knows all the rules and regs for motorsport. I use to fly through my warrant on the starlet with no mufflers or resonators.

Just depends where abouts you are located yada yada yada

Not in Wellington per se, but I go to P.E Crooke in Upper Hutt. One of the mechanics there used to race toyotas (mostly with 4age's) so he knows what hes doing. Good guys too, you get a month to pay after the jobs finished :D

Got a $300 quote from Toyota who were outsourcing the work to Spot On. I'm going to shop around a bit first.

Chris does my suspension, brakes and everything else on the car (bar the alarm and stereo which gets done by John at Installer Services which is right next door). Chris is certainly my trusted advisor when it comes to all things car related. In fact I won't let anyone else but Mossrax touch my car/s now.

It's also in a good location, Belfast Street is a handy place for car stuff as Firestone is just across the road for wheel alignments and new tires etc. It was even better when Repco was just around the corner on Tasman Street and its only a short hop to BNT on Taranaki St. So makes picking up parts relatively easy.
