From last time i remember, you can run dot legal drag slicks in the street class (like the hoosiers that bazda was selling a while back) but when you run non dot legal tyres, you have to step into the classes with the big boys (i.e. pro import, top/super street)

Have you done more to it? I hope to be racing but I will just be running my normal street tires so will be slow as buggery. R33 GTS25t with LITH as the plate :D

Will be good to see what Toyspeeders are doing around the country. Hopefully my time will improve a bit in a few weeks, November 24th at Motueka Dragstip

oh ok is that how it goes, well funny enough the Hoosiers Im using are actually Bazdas old ones. I checked and they have DOT J79D on them. I take it the other slicks dont have 'DOT' written anywhere on them at all then?

I should pm Barry and ask him actually.

you'll be sweet true-no-turbo. they might have a token groove on them somewhere that qualifies as tread  could have something to mdo with the sidewalls too.

i think it used to be and i assume still is, dot rated = stay in street class
non dot rated = need to race in with the big boys and meet their class rules too.

either way there was a few skylines and stuff running serious slicks there last year in street classes.

Im trying out some yokohama a032r's which i picked up dirt cheap. Will need something substantial as it just cooks the street tyres when its up around the 18 psi mark.

Just for bragging rights.
How fast can a pretty much stock Blacktop run down the quarter?
With car weights aside, how fast?
Cakky, you taken your Corolla down the strip?

well since car weights don't come into the argument, i'm sure a KP starlet with a stock blacktop would be well fast down the 1/4
