Towbars

Postby FST4RD » Fri Mar 17, 2006 12:21 pm

Well i'm sick and tired of having to dismantle my DH bike to get it in the back of the car, (the joys of having bolt through axles) and i want one of those towbars that you can remove the bar thingee off so it's not so noticible.
I have a '92 Mitsi GSR if it makes any diff??
Where bouts in chch could i get this done and approx how much would it cost??
Thanks

Look in the yellow pages dude. Pages 1211 and 1212 :P

Blackwells have a good rep

Or you could just buy some roof racks and be really cool. Would hide your rusty and fading roof too

No rust in my roof, it's a lightweight mod withall that carbon in there
Just though someone might have some experience, i have heard blackwells are good though.......
Roof racks not an option, dont exactly want a huge heavy DH bike sitting on the roof.......

looking at around $300, blackwells is about as cheap as anywhere, and yeah, look to do a good job.

Priced it up a while back, just never got around to getting it made :P that price is for custom made item, as I wanted it completely hidden once towbar toungue was removed :P

I got mine at Uniweld Mufflers. They are old Main south rd, between sockburn roundabout and church corner.

They use Blackwell engineering Tow bars.

Make sure you ASK for a removeable tounge, or they most likely wont fit one.

Mine was just over $220 I think. (was a while back,so my memory has faded)

Hey
I'd reccomend Uniweld as well, took a lot of cars there for towbars.
Ask for Grant an tell him Jared from Avon City sent ya. He should look after you.

I went to blackwells for mine too. Cost $325 or $345 (cant remember) though that was for the 1500kg one since I was planning on towing a car with it, which obviously you wont need for a bike.

They put a removable tongue on mine even though I didnt say either way, not that ive ever taken it off. But im happy they did
