Beers or Cash?! Help with remote start.

Postby varix » Tue Apr 11, 2006 7:26 pm

I figure this can be posted in here aswell considering im in Christhchurch.

I have just purchased an alarm with remote start. Ive had the alarm installed but not the remote start, as the install was done professionally they refused to install the remote start as it is apparntly illegal with a manual transmission.
Fair enough.

I have tried installing myself, but to no avail. My electronics skills are very amature and all I suceeded in doing was giving myself an extreme headache from all the soldering.

Anyway, who wants to help me out here? Im in Christchurch and willing to buy a dozen or give some cash for someone to help me get this thing in. It consists of about 10 wires, most of which connect to the module already installed. It comes with a wiring diagram to. Id say anyone good with electronics would have it done in a flash.

P.M me or reply back to this post.

Cheers

Take it back to the monkeys.
Its not illegal as the alarm has a cut off that wont allow the remote start to work if the car isnt in neutral

Unfortunatly the alarm/remote start is intended for automatics only. It doesnt have a sensor or nething of the the kind to know that the car is in gear or not in gear. It only has a handbrake sensor.

I see it as safe in my situation anyway. I tested it the other day by pulling the handbrake and starting the car myself in gear. The car just stalls and moves perhaps 20cm. Not really a big issue. As the remote start wouldnt start with the handbrake off. And with it on the car aint going anywhere.

Anyway, help would be appreciated.
