Levels Track Day 10 June 2006

Postby matt dunn » Thu May 18, 2006 1:20 am

Ok,

For those who are keen there is another event at Levels on the 10 June 2006.

It is almost exactly the same format as the last one which was advertised in this post.

viewtopic.php?t=42639&highlight=levels

The only real difference is the second event is on the short track not the long track.

Here is a quick run down.

This event is run on 3 different circuits.
The first circuit uses the lanes in the pits, the bottom 1/2 of the track and the front straight to form a nice technical track.
The second part is timed flying laps. This time we are using the short track and the esses in the front straight. One warm up lap, a flying timed lap and a slow down lap.
The 3rd part is the top loop, or Go kart track as it has been known.
Starting on the back straight you follow the track around until you come out of the hairpin where you go around the left hander and take a sharp left to take the shortcut across the top of the old circuit to the back straight where you take another sharp left and complete another 2 laps.
On the 3rd lap you exit the hairpin and run down the front straight to cross the finish line.
Depending on the number of entries and the way the day runs you may get 3 or 4 runs at each track. Your fastest time of the three tracks is combined to give an overall result for the day.

Road cars are able to be run, as long as a few conditions are met.
You must have a suitable fire extinguisher bolted in with a metal bracket,
and basically all else is safety stuff, cover battery terminals, approved overalls and helmet etc etc.

Prices have changed since a little since last time too unless you are a member of SCCC, CCC, Ashburton CC etc etc.

I would have been keen for my first outing down south, but unfortunatly it clash's with Canterbury's Motorsport weekend, Motorkhana & autocross on sat, trial sat night, and pursuit sprints speed event on sunday.

I'm hopefully coming up to watch a couple of SSE members race their Skylines around (if they make it), so is it like stated in the other topic where it is free for spectators?

And what time does it start/best time to get there and finish?

Does it still go ahead if it rains?

free entry for spectators

hope to have cars on the track by 10am. cars entering will need to be there 8-9am for documentation/scrutineering.

we would never allow a wee bit of moisture stop proceedings, but if it really buckets down, the call will be discussed.

Is there expected to be many people entering this? Might not be worth it if there's only five or six cars racing.

Thats the best days racing, when the track is all yours 8) That happened at the drags a while back, it started raining and 80% of the people just went home, about 6 cars stayed inline at the burnout pad and it stopped raining and dried up pretty quick. Did my first 12 second pass just after it rained

at one of our last events of this style, Ollie wasn't gonna enter because he thought he was gonna get shamed and owned and all the other nonsense.

he came down, had a blast, bought a club car , and sounds like he's coming back for more.

Very , very true comment there, that similar styled event inspired me to get my fx club car finished,( still in the finishing stages)
