4 AND ROTARY SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPS 2009

Postby matt dunn » Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:44 pm

Looks like this year they have actually updated the site with some info ahead of time.

Anyone from here looking at entering anything?

I have been seriously considering entering the drags as this year it is two weeks away from my next race series round, so allows time to return the car back to track spec.

anyway, dates are
Show and Shine
Saturday 21st February 2009
Drag Racing
Sunday 22nd February 2009

info here,

I might enter the drags, If I can get my car a bit more ready by then. Not helped by some bastard steeling my "drag" rims!

I just hope this yr the cars that deserve to win do. Not unpractical cars. (Last years winner with the swat team. What was it?) :?

Haven't even been to look the last few years,

I would only be doing the drags too if I run,
as dont really consider my car a 'show car'
and would be a PITA as you have to set up friday for the show,
so means more days off work, another nights accomodation etc etc etc...

Looking highly unlikely that I will be there now.

chewed through most of my supply of gearboxes already,
and have an engine repair to do too,
and due to my points standing is Sport Saloons, I am better to try and make sure I get the rest of the season completed.

Wow thats a few cars impounded!!

I did notice a lot more modified cars driving around town during the weekend, but most of which would be too nice to be taken to the illegal shit.

my brother drove back on friday, and said many didnt make it. quite a few cars crashed or broken down at side of the road, but guessing they were dodgey anyway, as the were on Thompson Track and not SH1.

I was watching the news last night (tv3 i think) and was pleasantly surprised when the person presenting the article said that, "There was an influx of car enthusiasts into christchruch for the 4 and rota nats and with them came the BOYRACERS"

This is about the first time I have ever heard the media separate the two. Perhaps that attack on the police has shown the public a bit of difference between the two?

Does any know who was doing the commentary?
I never knew that an evo 4 was a tommi makinen
or a ke30 was actually a ke40
 and apparently he has bee going it for 15years????

For a "professionally" organised event i was very dissapointed in some of the stuff that happened with kids being EVERYWHERE, if you were there you'd understand

but thats the only bad things i got to say about it, rest was good and some mint burnouts

From my point of veiw Azzar and crew pretty much did everything they could to make it a smooth weekend that was heaps of fun, Just let down by pegasus bay running the drags though. We didnt get propper time slips all day and there was problems with the timing gear which insured a hell of a lot of waiting round in the staging lanes and a big piss off for the likes of the fella with the na ek civic who set a national record and has a peice of paper with a time scrawled on it. I had a av day at the drags having a fair bit of trouble getting mine off the line with out bogging it, think best of the day was 12.2 at 123mph so a fair bit more room for improvement there. There a meet in about 3 weeks be good to see some more street cars out there again!
