Good rust repairers in Chch..

Postby RS13 » Fri Jun 16, 2006 6:34 pm

Hi guys,

As per topic, my GF's EP71 needs a little rust repair, basically just needs grinding, and a plate welded over it, about the size of a cig packet, on both sides of the firewall, as previous repairs have rusted out.

I'm not too fussed on price, but want someone who does a good job, quickly. If you know of any good places around Chch, preferably west of Hagley park, I'd like to know.

Cheers! :)

RS13.

Hagley Panel & Paint is pretty good, im not to sure what his price are like compared to others but i thought it was cheap. Great guy asked him to cut and weld the rust out of the left corner of my boot and weld a new lip on at the bottom of the boot for the seal to go over. He said $300 for that got there and he had also sanded and primered all round the bottom of the boot and cut out and welded up the rust he had found in the right hand corner of the boot and charged me the same $300.

Is that the guy sort of on the corner of Fitzgerald and Lichfield? If so, I've used him as well for my KP, did a pretty good job at a very reasonable price.

Went to Hesson and Bowry, pretty professional outfit. Gonna cost me $200 plus GST, only paid $350 for the car, so anything more isn't really worth it. For that I get the rust done, rustproofed, patch spot-welded in, photos of before and after, and paperwork to certify it! I thought that wasn't too bad..

I also need both left and right sets of hinges (top and bottom) for the EP, its' a 2dr, and I need some without any play in them! If anyone knows where an EP is being wrecked cheap (I've tried Allcars etc, no joy), I'll gladly send a dozen your way if you can hook me up. They need to be mint! This thing must get a WOF asap, I'm getting sick of driving it, lol..

Aaaaand I got the car back, they've done a mint job, and it only ended up costing me $180 + gst, and it only took them 5-6 hours to do it, and provided photos and paperwork. I recommend them! :)

Do they just do rust, or panel beaters too? I need one as my $&#$% NeIgHbour drove his taxi into me.

Yup, they're Hesson and Bowry Collision Centre, have chassis machine etc, so do structural stuff, and apparently mechanical stuff too. I was recommended them, now I'm just passing on the favour! :)

If you want an example of hesson and bowries work have a look at my ute.
Runs in the paint covered up with graphics, paint flaking off where it hadnt been cleaned first, over 15mm of bog in repairs and they broke the rear seatbelt mount. went back for another 2 weeks of work and came back with another dent from them and still not fixed properly.
I need my vehicle so i couldnt be bothered returning it for the 3rd time for another 2-3 weeks of work to get it right.

So what? They did a really good job with my car, hence why I would recommend them for rust removal.
