Nice picnic spots?

Postby andrewgreen1000 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:45 pm

Hey guys

I am wanting to take my GF for a nice picnic for her 21st lunch.
Anyone have any good spots to reccomend in the Canty region.
Don't mind a bit of a drive, in any direction, probably max an hour away.

So any ideas?

The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

How about fish and chips at Akaroa..... oh wait that was the last Toyspeed cruise

Can't say I go on picnics much, but The Quarry is nice, in Halswell, find a nice quiet spot to lay around in the sun etc.

Train ride to the coast is pretty mint, no driving needed.

Yes fish and chips in Akaroa seems a bit familiar... Need to do another TS thing before Xmas?

The quarry might be a goer, I had forgotten about it, lol. I also just had another think, and thought maybe Orton Bradley park. Thanks for the suggestion. keep em coming if you have any good ideas.

Old topic (but I haven't been on in a while).

Take her to Ashley Gorge just outstide of oxford. Nice river and a big of swim if it's your thing.

In terms of a toyspeed meet, Lake Lyndon/Arthurs Pass is a good road and a nice enough place to stop and then head back.
