chch trackday

Postby djb160 » Wed Feb 05, 2014 7:57 am

Hi there,

Signed up as I'm trying to get some inter-club co-operation towards some events going here in Chch. So far we got great response from most of the import clubs around the area. Still waiting to hear back from a couple. It would be great to add a Toyspeed representative to the group.

Anyone interested?

Regards

Dale.

Everyone is either too old, a workaholic, doesn't own a Toyota anymore, broke or the old Toyspeed favourite, says they are 100% keen and then doesn't show up on the day.

Yeah pretty much that ^^ I don't own anything suitable for track fun anymore. There will be members on here that go to events, but do so via race car related clubs. We've never really had enough to make a big go of track events. We used to have a few turn up to the drags about 9-10 years ago though. I feel old now...

I spend my free time either working, fixing somebody's car or out somewhere with the missus.. it continually surprises me that the older I get the less I seem to care about owning toys.

Yeah it's more about organising those few of us that are interested in track days as most of the clubs are pretty similar. If no one shows any interest in the next few days I'll continue organising the rest of the clubs but will post up any relevant info here so no one misses out altogether.

I could be keen SERIOUSLY busy at work its pretty hard for me to get out there but I also run Southern Supras there is a few guys on there whom track there cars that are always bugging me to organise something only thing is as most people have mentioned Its hard getting people to show on the day but Id love an invite for our group for anyone organising something either pm me details or join Southern Supras on facebook.

Always thought it be pretty cool one day to try to forum wars or similar like they do in the states different clubs have people battle in multiple events for points unsure what your group is I know im about a year away before I could consider trying to organise such an event.

Nothing is decided yet for group name. I will be suggesting that we go for something pretty generic.

Suggestions for inclusion of any/all other chch forums groups is encouraged (e.g. SouthernSupras) thanks for that, have requested joining that group and I see my flatmate and his crazy supra project are already members :)

My thought was that we aim for a Jap imports focus but I'm personally always happy to see a holden R8 or porsche out having a blast and let's face it NO ONE is going to be disappointed if a Lambo turns up lol.

This idea is all about gathering together the various people from all the different groups who want to do a few track days a year at Ruapuna and pool the resources to hopefully get a successful track day event happening but also with an eye on other possible events.

Haven't got a car that's suitable for the track - at the moment, one I'd be happy to bolt an extinguisher in at least . Wouldn't be this side of the halfway stage of this year anyway

I did have an ae82 fxgt caged track car for that I raced in several speed events for a while lets not forget people. What I mean also is I've got another car which needs work to tidy it up, which requires time and money both of which I hardly have a lot of these days. That and I'd be lucky to be able to have a day free to go for a blast on the track
