i think thats the risk you take... if ur goign to enter competitive events then u have to accept that there maybe consequences.. if u dont want the risk then dont enter. but also there would definatley have to be some sterne :wink: rules/ ways of dealing with new/unexperienced drivers.

seriously though, if this is going to be a race series, rather than a one off, mostly uncompetitive track day, are any of you worried about the fact that it's very likely you'll do a fair bit of panel damage in a series of competitive racing, and possibly even completely write the car off? It would be a shame to see a pile up destroying 3 or 4 cars that have been painstakingly built up by their owners over a couple of years.


Too true, the idea is good but with the way things are going price wise for ae86's you might as well race gt4 Caldinas.

I agree. It's the risk you take if you want to try and be competitive. I suspect that there would be a fair bit of self restraint anyways. None of us would wanna write off their car on the first go.

I did have some interesting ideas if people wanna test themselves first for a season before going in an all out grid race....

Cat and mouse styles. (touge)
One on one, two hot laps where the aim is just to keep up with your opponent, no need to pass. Then change positions.

Dual sprints.

For all the people who've put their names in the hat, there's probably only 3 or 4 cars in each catagory anyways.

No that is the reason that I have built another , amazing what you can do with a large pile of money and time!

You just have to remember that if you are not prepared to have this happen to your pride and joy then you should not be racing it , and I cannot stress enough how important good saftey gear is,worth every cent you put into it

but nzae86 - do you have any issues with MSNZ with having your fuel surge tank not being in a separate compartment from the driver/passenger compartment?

Yep just finished spending a lot of time and money in time for the new manual to come out with new rules, as before it was allowed with aeroquip fittings and hoses so now I need to remount them in an enclosed box.
As you can see the car is still not finished but nearly there, damn work keeps getting in the way!!

haha, yeah, was just making sure, everyone's car so far iv seen is running a standard setup, so im just trying to figure out the best way to mount mine without adding too much weight.
