How much should i expect to pay?

Postby FXGTV » Tue Jan 31, 2006 5:48 pm

Ok, ive just bought sum new headers (thanks femaleshopper) and now im ready to combine them with a straight through. Im going for a 2 1/4, which wont be too loud as i have a huge silencer ;) I went to my local muffler place and got quoted $620, which includes fitting the headers, a new gasket, a full 2 1/4 exhaust with flexi and 2 large resonators. It will be a little more if the radiator gets in the way and needs to be removed. Does this quote sound about right?

Any help/advice would be great :)

would be worth shopping round a little to see if you can get better.
years ago I got a full system from the flexi back done for ~$450ish I think- that was 2 resonators and a muffler.- at the time I didnt really care, but if I had shopped around I know I could have got it done for less.
but since you are supplying the main muffler you may get cheaper than the quote (although labour adds up the most half the time). Flexi's can cost a bit depending where you go, so I guess that adds to the price.
either way, no harm in shopping around just for a quote before you choose where to go.

Only if you believe the exhaust shop telling you they are $200 a piece ;)

Tyco Flow Control will sell you one for ~$50 or less.

Wtf, $300 for full system with N1 style muffler? :|

Pit Stop and Muffler Shop both quoted me $700 for a full system on my R34, and an EXTRA $300 for headers..
That was for 2.5" piping, 1 resonator and muffler.

HEY I got qutoed for $650 for a headers back system...Think about how little exhaust is needed in a AW11...

Emp did you want a "sports" exhaust? Because they always rack up the price on those....

So what Im doing now in straight pipe...muffler...( not a bling cannon but a stock one of larger car)

quite true, I meant through a standard exhaust shop in my statement.

problem is, when you buy all the good priced stuff everywhere else, the shop assembling it all may inflate the labour sometimes as you are not using their parts.

I got a 2.25" system on my Detomaso, 2 reso's and an RPS muffler. Cost me $650, and quite a bit of that cost was the muffler ($200ish) then $150ish for reso's, which means that it doesnt actually cost that much to get the piping done.
