You can TXT it to ask it where it is at any time, and it will respond with a street address including the house number

so the system knows the house number of every house through-out the country? without any extra programming required after purchase?
I don't know for certain, but I suspect that when you txt for a location, it actually bounces the txt from a server... Which then comms with the unit and deciphers the location using some trick software...

As for the $15k bit...
I think anyone who is serious about their car would consider this... Nothing worse than that feeling as you look down the carpark and can't see you car...

I don't claim to know everything... That doesn't mean it isn't true....

This is interesting...

We have put these on $2000 - $200,000 cars. They are becomming popular because they do some 'cool' stuff.

The street address of every house is on our server, so when you ask for a street address, by sending 'address' as a txt, the unit hooks up to our server and gives it the current co ordinate, the server tells the unit the street address and the unit TXT's you back. The TXT looks like:

Address request
loccode-UDQ3SWAARG
1 Queen Street, Auckland
50 km/h NW
mode-normal
rtt-on
bat-6.0V
In-12.7V

So it tells you speed and direction heading, and your battery voltage. (can also TXT you if your batteries running flat, lights on etc)

To use Real Time Tracking is $10 per month to Snitch inc and approx $10 to vodafone for data transfer, so $20.00 (+GST) per month. Thats on all the time or you can pay no monthly charges (prepay sim and prepay with snitch) and turn on RTT when your car gets pinched, so only pay for what you use. You monitor it yourself on the net, on maps or using your mobile phone to get addresses....
