Will this pass scrutineering? (cable ties really strong!)

Just installed the new suspension in the race car - but i had an issue with the brake hose mounts. As the new shocks dont have any, is it acceptable to cable tie the hose to the bottom of the strut? I know this is not ideal - and i intend to get some custom brackets made up in time - but i cant see there being time before track day on queens birthday weekend (have a million other things to try get ready is making the wheels fit under the guards!... It is currently nice and firmly in place with multiple cable ties used.

i went to a motorsport NZ national clubsport event a few weeks ago and didnt have mine attached at all, the scrutineer just told me to cable tie them on, although i do have the proper mount they're tied to but i cant see it being any different
have been like that since with no worries at all

I've got a similar problem with my project - the braded lines don't have anything on them to attach them to the tabs on the strut. Cable ties FTW!

I wouldn't cable tie them direct to anything, it rubs and wears. Grab a small piece of rubber tube about 10mm in length, like vacuum tube. Pass the cable tie through it, around the brake hose then back through the vacuum tube. Then wrap the remaining ends around whatever you want to mount it to and zip tie it together. You're using the rubber tube as a spacer to stop wear on the line and whatever you mount it to. It works wonderfully well on all my braided lines were I can't mount a P clip.

i dont think he means putting ties directly on the rubber or braided part of the hose, just the metal connector part? so there would be nothing rubbing

Somebody has already put rubber hosing round the hoses, so it should work fine. Coolage! Of course it will be interesting to see what the warrant people say.

I have used silicone vac hose around the line (zip tied in place) and then zip tied the whole assembly against the lower mount of the strut. The vac hose will prevent wear from rubbing. What i really want to know (Ken or Chelles?) - is will this be alowed at the up and coming track day.

Yeah, I'm thinking nice stainless hose clamps will probably do the best job.

i have passed scrutineering at masterton motorplex with the same thing. although they dont really take too much notice of your brakes there

from experience they will say take it away and do something about it. Not aloud to have loose lines around your suspension and break gear

Oh and you should be ok with that for track day however, as long as it's not going to fall off or break and is held solidly in place it is ok for on the track
