Man, my AW's chassis has like 260 clicks on it and its still firm as! Its like it doesn't have any sag at all!

He is willing to sell with aftermarket 14" wheels...but those 17's suit it quite well. Decision decisions...ill let you people know how the test drive goes.

Yeah, must get at least 20 or 30 mls of water through the targa roof when it rains hard. 8O

Got a garage or somewhere to put it out of the rain over night?

A tip I got given once is to take the Targa roof tops off and clean the glass where it connects with the rubber. Then get a jar of Vaseline and smother the rubber in it and leave it over night. In the morning, gently wipe off any excess Vaseline and then see how it goes.

another thing to check, aside from rust lol, is the steering rack for play. Have come accross several, mine included which had a worn rack bush. easy to replace if you catch it in time, but not totally uncommon in the aw's
...the one linked looks tidy but

or you could stick them down with gasget sealer 8) :twisted:

i want something that will be a reliable daily driver - but something that will also represent my love of toyotas :) Im going overseas next year, so theres no point in saving for a nice levin or trueno just yet :lol:

Because in my personal opinion they're a very nice car...

Just took out the aw11 - apart from the lack of power steering it was a dream to drive :) If all goes well ill have it in my hot little hands tonight. $2200 without the 17's. Im going to see how the 14's look on it before i decide to buy it for that price however. The only thing needed for a warrant is the handbrake to be adjusted...no biggie.

After all that i decided agaiant buying it. A mate who used to work for toyota backed up my fears about costly repair jobs a midmounted car would bring. Being that im a poor student its probably best i get another fx :roll:

Instead of starting another thread i thought i would ask this question here...i am looking at a 1987 fx for sale (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 904215.htm) and the ad states it had ABS brakes...forgive me if im wrong but i didnt think this model fx had ABS...anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

never seen one with abs myself.

What costly repairs did your mate state?, there basically just a fwd setup mounted in the rear. no harder to work on...
