Just went out to my car to go pick up dinner and the doors were half open. I look inside and the steering column cover is gone and the ignition barrel is hanging down. So I come back with a torch and expect the worst... but my stereo and 5 gauges are still there, even the boost gauge which is held on by a cable tie!!

So right now im pissed off that i need a new ignition barrel, but happy they just gave up. No sign of forced entry either. Im also kicking myself for not having the alarm armed. Its usually set off by the local bogans with their 95db+ 4ages, and being a 'good neighbourhood' and all i usually dont bother, Ive lernt my lesson now.

I had my Valentine one taken from my Levin, 5 star alarm, smash and grab, must have sussed out the area, as I live in an apartment block, they had a planned escape route and everything.

Know how u feel, at least nothing was taken.

Also had someone break into my old AE86, nothing taken, just smashed window and they tried jimmying drivers door lock,

No shit! I live in Fendalton too, next to CBHS.. I've had so many of my cars tampered with, when left on the road outside my house.. most recently, someone threw a McD's coke all over it.. I've had my Cefiro taillights smashed (with an old skool Toyota scissor jack, which they left under the car!), my old mans' AE82 was stolen a couple of years back, found dumped minus ignition in Burnside park.. and I've even come out one morning, to find my 323 wagon covered in coke again, unlocked, with a sticky steering wheel!

For the most part, I've noticed most of this crap happens on a Fri, Sat, or Sun night, and often on school holidays! Honestly, if I ever catch anyone $&#$% with my car.. the last thing they'll be seeing for a while, will be the Kookaburra on my cricket bat..

Dude, i live next to CHBS too, small world it is. Havn't had much trouble untill now. Bastards left mud all through the car so im guessing they parked on Straven Rd and walked across the field to get to it.

Getting it towed to my mechanic today. I mean ffs im trying to sell the damn car!

I assume you live near or on Tui? What car did you have stolen? You must have seen varix's "panda" AE92 then.. I live up from him, nearer the bridge. Very small world!

I remember a couple of years back, I heard screech-thump one night, came out to see 4 young fellas running through the school.. and a 323 with a broken CV and wheel on a 45 degree angle! He'd tried to handbrake turn up the driveway next to the tennis courts, cocked it up, and slammed into the kerb. Cops turned up, found them on the other side of the fields, car was stolen and me and another neighbour ended up having to id the driver!
