Nope, THIS is the EVC.


:roll: thats the current EVC with remove display thats the 6th version mine is a ECV-IV as in fourth version 8)

Any way back to subject any electronic boost controler is vast improvment over any type of bleed valve.

I got a Blitz DSBC R, this is working perfectly in my MR2, controlling the boost really well.

It is also quite easy to setup. Highly recommended!!

I find there are generally 3 grades of boost controllers.
Firstly the bleed valve mechanical style which just arent worth it.

The next are simple electronic controllers like greddy profec range (excluding e01)

After that are the more complex electronic controllers such as AVCR, E01 the HKS offerings and the jaycar controller. The difference with the complex ones are they have learning features and precise control. The simple electronic dont have as greater control of boost levels.

My profec b s2 cannot maintain an even boost level till redline as the amount of wastegate opening needed varies over the rpm range and the greddy profec controllers simply cant do that.
I would personally go for the jaycar controller as its about $200 and has a high amount of adjustability, it doesnt however have a learning function.

Next i would vote with Adydas and pick the AVCR which is a better controller but costs more.

a year ago there were 530-550 , nowadays they seem to be 630-650 , funny how theyve gone up over a year :D

i bought one a year ago , and it failed 3 days out of 12 month warranty :x so i had to get a new one , and can repair my old one myself as the problem is fairly obvious.

But do i need all the graph things i make, plus the extra hassle of finding the RPM out on the ecu?

Is that the same for theGizzmo units as my car needs the same,
different amounts of wastegate openings at different RPM's.

I've got an older AVC-R its awesome. Holds boost the way it should, no spiking whatsoever.

Got a new Profec B from nzperformance, Nice controller, looks pretty. But its not working well. Detonation on less boost then my old ebc was on. Replaced fuel filter, same old story. Runs fine with boost cont. off. Sad moment.

Does anyone use a Turbosmart EBoost?
I am going to use this setup from autospeed - pretty basic but should do what I need it to.

Personally I have the Blitz SBC I-D a real piece of kit this thing is easy to set up works really well and it has a function called GAIN wow playing around with this is awesome..The downfall of this EBC is that its not cheap but it is quality so I suppose the old addage applies you get what you pay for...

No No NO!!! Yoou definatly cant go past the hks evc series damn they were good there is a self learning mode the programs your boost curve into the controller and so on it was super easy to setup. I had a Evc2 or 3 i picked up 4 $145 and it was amazing serioously. Nothing Beats it. Nothing.

That's what I am fitting to try at the moment as I can try it before I buy it,

but it appears that every time you switch off the ign sw, and restart the car it goes back to low boost mode which sux for me as low boost might as well be no boost.

I don't no guys I'm sure the HKS item is good but the Blitz SBC I-D is'nt to bad either..

Weird i fitted mine a long time ago. Cant you just set the low boost settin at what you want it at so when it restarts it should be what you want. What version are you using? I dont remember haveing that problem. Do you have the manual? I downloaded it off the net somewhere.

whats all this talk about ebc's huh? I've only ever used manual controllers and they've always done the trick for me. Set it up just like the diagram above, but instead of the ball valve, just make a restriction in the line in the same spot or on that side of the 'T' - restrict the vac line down to between 1 and 2mm hole and the needle valve will do the job perfectly

No, low boost only goes as far up as 1 bar or approx 15psi,
and i run 18psi all the time.

will try it to see, but just means I'll have to remember to switch it to high each time, and hope I can reach it with the full harness belts on.
