i only found out my self a few months back, but they dont have the lock up ramps. they just have the pre load clutch pack.

so not the best for a track car

Yip, found that one out also. Adds additional $1k to the conversion price.

When I was talking to the guy at Steelie Gears (forget his name) when i had my hilux rebuilt he didnt seem to think that the lack of ramps was an especially bad thing. We were comparing the Hilux diff to a Mazda courier (RX7) diff. When set with the correct preload i thought that it would make bugger all difference and it means that the gears are not coming out of alignment. Having the gears always working on the correct operating patch means that there is less wear and more load handling capability... This was a while ago now but it still makes sense in my head :) I dont think i'm missing anything.

The big problem is without anything to load the LSD clutch plates when a wheel breaks the 'preload' that wheel will just continue to spin. As good as a single spinner unless your doing burnouts in a straight line.
