half my project car is rtv, works fine for most cracks / gaps / holes etc

1. what is the effect of powdercoating wheels? I mean, does it weaken them, or make them harder to repair?

Wikipedia knows all... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating

Its a substitute finish to painting. No it doesn't weaken them and being on the inside of the wheel it should make no difference. As AESC said, you just grind it off and they would paint the repaired area because no one will see it. $160 is expensive for a crack of that size.

Yeah, it did seem expensive, but compared to buying a new set of rims...

It got couriered back to the office today, but I didn't have time to collect it, so I've no idea whether they repainted the damaged area or not (but then for $150 I should think so!).

I was expecting about $70-100, but really I'm just happy to have it back...

Thanks guys for the answers by the way- appreciated!!

Well, ya could do what I did, and bowl over there at 6:30 on a Sunday evening... yeah, I'm an inconsiderate bastard! :P So, erm, what rims do you have? :D

I got the impression that Warren was getting a bit stressed out about the show... Phones crapping out really annoyed him

Oh, and the rim was delivered on Thursday afternoon, I picked it up on Friday morning... mint job, cant even see where it was repaired, so I can see where the cost went! I had better check my other alloys I guess...
