An Exide clutch eh? Didnt know they'd branched out from batteries

$400 wont get you much, but go to some specialist clutch places, they should be able to do you some sort of deal.

$400 should get you a metallic clutch disc.
You can use your factory pressure plate.

Ring Tony @ Clutch Systems in Christchurch a call. His number is 03 366 8494

I've bought 5 or 6 clutch kits from him over the years.
His prices are so good, there are users on trademe who resell his kits for twice the price.
A couple of weeks ago I got a Exedy 4 Puk Ceramic kit (clutch + Pressure + bearing) for my silvia for under $400. Had my first event on it on Saturday and its great. It even held 24pound when my actuator hose came off, heh.

A few years ago I needed to upgrade the clutch in my S/C Aw11. I went to Repco and bought a standard Corolla/MR2 friction plate and an upgraded cover plate. Back then the cover plate cost me $250 at trade price. I'm still running this combination, and it shows no signs of slipping (the wheels always spin first :) ) I found this setup provides a factory feel clutch (easy to drive on the road), with the holding power of a fancy aftermarket clutch.

get a standard 4agze disc and just upgrade the pressure plate slightly.

ive used this combo for 18 months of serious abuse, 2 manfield track days,3 outings to the drags, 3 hard dyno sessions, heaps of street abuse etc and the disc is only just rooted now, and it stil doesnt slip. ive a fair bit more than 200hp atw too.
